Posted in About Matskat, Game News, Random Shit with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 27, 2010 by Mat$kat

Just a little bragging here…

I’ve been a slacker on updating this page for a while, aside form the posts of the last few days.

Sorry.

I’ve been so caught up in actually PLAYING games though, AND FOR GOOD REASON….

Fever SOS PCB by CAVE (aka Dangun Feveron) running on my Sega Aero City cabinet:

And of course, Donpachi by Cave…again on the Aero Cabinet:

What with the recent XBLA release of Guwange, plus my two newest PCBs there has been a lot of CAVE love going on lately!

Now to get my hands on Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu…..

Dreamcast Support – We have it!

Posted in About Matskat, Custom Sticks, Game News with tags , , , , , , , on November 26, 2010 by Mat$kat

I’m happy to announce that I’ve added Sega Dreamcast Support to my current line of custom joysticks.

Recently there have been strides made in the decryption and understanding of the Dreamcast controller’s data dump. Toodles, who manufactures the PIC-processor based Cthulhu PCBs has introduced a beta version of the Cthulhu firmware, now adding support for our favorite Sega console.

Starting NOW, and into the future : ALL custom sticks that include a multiconsole Cthulhu board WILL work on Dreamcast.

I Finally Got a Cabinet

It’s the top brick in the pyramid of gaming addiction.

It’s the height of geekness.

Today I got a SEGA  Aero City candy cabinet. Candy cabinets are sit-down Japanese style machines – usually found in rows inside a Japanese game center.

Crazy story, I posted a “want to buy” on Craigslist – 30 seconds later I get a tip from a random dude to check out the forums over at Aracde Museum. 24 hours later I have the object of my desire.

It has the original Capcom Street Fighter II board in it currently, but after I clean it up and do a little restoration, it’s gonna be a dedicated shooter cabinet. The monitor looks FANTASTIC! I cannot believe that this thing is in as good of shape as it is. Everything works 100%. Buttons and sticks are a little grimy, and will soon be replaced, and the vinyl overlay on the control panel is old and cracked – another easy fix.

My wife is gonna move in with the bleach soon 🙂 That should take care of the 25 years of cigarette smoke that gives it a slight beige hue.

Now with the Pictures…

Real life takes over….

Quick note to anyone who’s reading….

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.

I know that there’s not much to read about on the internet, and when I fail to post news, I realize that I’m contributing to the lack of words floating around the innard-webs.

From the depths of my bosom, I apologize, and will strive to post more stuff – more often.

Real life just has a tendency to get in the way…that and my recent quest to 1CC the PS2 version of  Espgaluda.

(The 4th boss is kicking my ass, but I’ll get it soon…my scores though, are beginning to soar well over 14+ million…Yay…)

Yo Gabba Gabba!

Posted in About Matskat, Random Shit with tags , , , , on March 21, 2010 by Mat$kat

Just got back from taking my daughter to see “Yo Gabba Gabba LIVE” at the Fox Theatre, here in Saint Louis. For the uninitiated, Yo Gabba Gabba is a super-hip children’s show that airs on Nickelodeon. The creator of the show, and main character, “DJ Lance Rock” is a Saint Louis native and the show is a huge hit. It’s so damn hip! The coolest moment of the show, and a perfect example of the level of cool involved here, was when Biz Markie (the oldskool rapper…remember “Oh baby you, got what I NEEEEEED”) came out on stage and gave a beat-box tutorial to all the children. It was pretty boss.

Now I know this has NOTHING to do with videogames or joysticks, BUT I just gotta tell ya..this show was DOPE! If any of you have kids, and have managed to live under rocks and have avoided ever hearing about Yo Gabba Gabba, then do yourself and your kids a favor and check it out!

Yo! GABBA GABBA!!!!!

And I’m OUT!

I have been waiting since Feb. 25th for Cave’s newest and last region free shooting game, Espgaluda II. Finally today it arrived. I was beginning to get nervous. I ordered it from Play-Asia, and past experiences have been positive. Last order tool 10 days from Hong Kong to Saint Louis, Missouri.

Suffice it to say, I’m super excited to play, I’m gonna be up all damn night.

I’ll post a review as soon as I get through a few of the modes.
